Update: Fleet 33, 55, 77 and MPDS closure dates

Dec 18, 2017 | Latest News

Following the previous Fleet EOL services notification on November 24th 2017, this is an update on the MPDS and Fleet 33, 55, 77 services End-of-Life (EOL).

Inmarsat has announced that the MPDS service will now continue to be supported into 2018 as opposed to the previously announced EOL of 31 December 2017.

MPDS will be available until 31 March 2018 in ALL I-3 ocean regions. Since it is not feasible to migrate the MPDS service onto the I-4 satellites, the service thereafter will be available regionally, on a reasonable effort basis, and will be closed in stages as Inmarsat migrates each I-3 ocean region onto the corresponding I-4 satellite during the course of 2018. No MPDS service will be available beyond 2018.

The EOL dates for all Fleet 33, 55, 77 services remain unchanged.

Service EOL Date
MPDS Global availability supported until 31 March 2018. Thereafter, the MPDS service will be available regionally, on a reasonable effort basis, and will be closed in stages in line with the planned I-3 to I-4 satellite migration during the course of 2018. No MPDS service will be available beyond 2018.
